West Jefferson police investigating woman's body in Little Darby Creek

West Jefferson police are investigating after kayakers found a woman’s body in Little Darby Creek.

On April 18 at 5:11 p.m., officers arrived at the scene near Martin Street and North Franklin Street, where the woman was pronounced dead.

The woman has been identified, according to a release from the West Jefferson Police Department. The department was still in the process of notifying next of kin at the time of the release’s publication.

The department said that the incident “appears to be isolated” and there is no evidence to suggest a threat to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing and no other information is being made available at this time.
