Beloved local bar The Bier Stube teased progress updates for its new location in a recent social media post.
According to photos posted on Facebook, renovations are underway at 234 King Ave., including work on a large open patio on the property owner Craig Kempton signed the lease for in August 2025.

The 58-year-old bar closed in 2024 to make way for a new development on North High Street.
Loyal fans were quick to praise the updates posted to social media, expressing their excitement for the Stube’s next steps. Kempton told The Dispatch last year that he hoped to reopen by late December, but bar’s Facebook page noted there is not set reopening date due to a “lot more work.”
The Bier Stube opened in the spring of 1966 at 1479 N. High St. Kempton started working at the bar in 1996 and became its owner in 2021.
The new building, which previously housed Hampton’s on King and Junior’s Bar & Grill, is nearly twice as big as the Stube’s last location.
