Some Butler County voters will see a new name on their primary ballots this May.
Rep. Mike Turner, a Dayton Republican, has represented Ohio’s 10th Congressional District since 2013. The district includes Greene and Montgomery counties, but thanks to new congressional maps that are being used this election, it will soon add Middletown and Trenton in Butler County.

Those cities are currently represented by Republican Rep. Warren Davidson in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District.
Turner is running for reelection unopposed by any Republicans. Voters will choose his Democratic opponent ‒ one of six candidates in a crowded primary ‒ on May 5.
Turner won reelection with 58% of the vote in 2024.
Here’s what to know about the Republican congressman who is running to represent parts of Butler County.
Who is Rep. Mike Turner?
Turner has been in Congress for more than two decades. He represented Ohio’s 3rd Congressional District from 2003 to 2013. Before that, he was the mayor of Dayton for eight years.
In 2022, he voted for the Respect for Marriage Act, which codified the right to same-sex marriage.
In Ohio, he’s worked to add jobs and bring millions of federal dollars to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Turner is often aligned with Trump’s agenda, but has gone up against him a few times.
He voted to certify the 2020 presidential election results that Trump contested. He also called on Trump to deescalate violence during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, but voted against establishing a commission to investigate the riot.
On CBS News this year, the Ohio native questioned Trump’s handling of Greenland and said the president does not have the authority to use military force to seize the island.
He also denounced a since-deleted post on Trump’s Truth Social account that depicted former President and First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
