Cincinnati Enquirer names 2025-2026 winter all-city teams

It was another incredible winter high school sports season in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Indiana.

Highlights include the St. Xavier Bombers winning the city’s first-ever bowling team state title, the Highlands Bluebirds winning the combined swimming team state title, and multiple swimmers and wrestlers bringing home individual championships.

Boys bowling

Ohio Division I

Player of the year

Easton Pierani, Sycamore: The senior had the highest average in Cincinnati, 218.6. He finished second in the sectional tournament with a 693 and 13th in the district tournament with a 682. He was Greater Miami Conference player of the year and first-team All-Southwest District.

Coach of the year

Jason Honaker, Elder: He led the Panthers to a 15-1 season, Greater Catholic League-South championship and the highest team average in Cincinnati. They were sectional champions, fifth in the district, and state runner-up.

Randy Eckman, Blanchester: He had the highest Division II average in Cincinnati (217), including a perfect 300. He finished fourth in the sectional tournament and seventh in the district tournament with a 656, narrowly missing a spot in the state tournament. He led the team to the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference National Division championship and was player of the year.

Coach of the year

Jim Barr, Mariemont: He led the Warriors to an undefeated season, Cincinnati Hills League championship, second in the sectional tournament and seventh in the district tournament, narrowly missing a berth in the state tournament.

Maddox Kuryla, Boone County: The senior finished second in the state singles tournament, averaging 222.4 for seven games.  He won the Region 6 singles championship, averaging 226.3 over six games. He had the highest average in the regular season of 216 and led the Rebels to a 63-7 record. He had a perfect 300 during the season.

Coach of the Year

Gary Wagner, Covington Catholic: He led the Colonels to the Region 6 championship and runner-up in the state tournament. CovCath also had three individual qualifiers to the state tournament.

Kenlie Littelmann, Seton: She had the highest average in Division I in Southwest Ohio (201.4), including a perfect 300. She won a sectional title in singles, helping the Saints win the team title. She finished second in the district tournament with a 662 three-game series and finished 40th at the state tournament (516). She was first-team All-Southwest District.

Coach of the year

Amy Feie, Mercy McAuley: She coached the Wolves to an undefeated season with the highest team average in Cincinnati. They finished third in the sectional tournament and eighth in the district.

Carolyn Edmisten, Georgetown: The senior ends her career by winning this honor for the fourth straight year. She had the highest average in all of Southwest Ohio (209.5), helping the team to an undefeated season. She won a sectional championship with a 581, finished third in the district tournament with 629, and 11th in the state tournament with a 576. She was player of the year in the National Division of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference, and POY in the Southwest District.

Coach of the year

Brandon Winterod, Georgetown: He led the team to an undefeated season and the championship of the National Division of the Southern Buckeye Athletic & Academic Conference. The team finished second in the sectional tournament and seventh in the district tournament.

David Hampton, Notre Dame: He led the Pandas to the Region 6 championship and the state semifinals, with two individual state qualifiers. NDA also had the best record in the regular season.

Chase Grisi, St. Xavier: The University of Minnesota commit claimed his second straight 200-yard freestyle state title, took second place in the 100-yard butterfly and anchored the 400-yard freestyle relay to a state title. He also won three individual titles and helped the Bombers win four relay titles at the sectional and district levels.

Diver of the year

Bryce Cousins, West Clermont: After finishing as the sectional and district runner-up, he took third place at the state meet with 530.95 points.

Coach of the year

Mark Sullivan, Mason: He led the Comets to a district title, unseating St. Xavier, and a third-place finish at the state meet. The Ohio High School Swim Coaches Association named him the Ohio boys coach of the year.

Cole Andrews, Roger Bacon: He won sectional and district titles before placing 27th at the state meet.

Coaches of the year

Ben Clark and Claire Mongenas, Mariemont: They led the Warriors to a third-place finish at the district meet before tying their highest-ever finish at the state meet, taking third place with 142 points.

Chase Knopf, Ryle: He won regional championships in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, then became Ryle’s first individual state champion since 2007 when he won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:37.76 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:24.97.

Diver of the year

Isaiah Reinhart, Simon Kenton: The senior won the Region Seven championship with 324.85 points and took second place at state with 570 points.

Coach of the year

Jeff Floyd, Ryle: He coached the Raiders to a Region Seven title, winning with 485 points. Ryle then took third place at state with 175 points.

Swimmer of the year

Maya Schweikert, Kings: The University of Georgia commit had one of the greatest seasons in Cincinnati history. She set four pool records at the Southwest Ohio Classic and set the 100-yard backstroke state record by swimming a time of 52.0 seconds at the district meet. She capped her career by winning her third straight backstroke state title and back-to-back butterfly state titles.

Diver of the year

Isabella Giraldo, Mason: The University of Connecticut commit won the sectional title with 427.4 points and, after taking fifth place at the district meet, led all Cincinnati divers with a ninth-place finish at state, scoring 424.25 points.

Coach of the year

Mark Sullivan, Mason: He coached the Comets to sectional and district titles before finishing in the runner-up spot at state with 214 points. The OHSSCA named him the Ohio girls coach of the year.

Reese Reilly, Roger Bacon: The Duke University commit won her third straight 100-yard breaststroke state title, took fourth place in the 200-yard individual medley and helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a seventh-place finish. During the year, she set school records in the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard medley relay.

Diver of the year

Calli Reiskamp, Taylor: She won the sectional title, was the district runner-up, and was the highest Cincinnati placer at state, scoring 381.85 points for sixth place.

Coach of the year

Matt Harrison, Indian Hill: He led the Braves to a sectional title with 460 points, a district title with 249 points, and a fifth-place finish at state with 109 points.

Clare Herfel, Notre Dame: The sophomore won her second straight regional and state championship in the 500-yard freestyle. She also won the 200-yard freestyle regional title and took third place at state, and helped the Pandas win the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay regional titles.

Diver of the year

Savannah Bien, Notre Dame: She won the Region Seven diving championship with a score of 259.9 and took fourth place at state with a score of 488.8.

Coach of the year

Jamie Kelly, Notre Dame: He led the Pandas to a dominant Region Seven title as they scored 495 points. Notre Dame was the state runner-up with 236 points.
