With one week remaining in regular season play, high school baseball teams are preparing for tournament play beginning May 18.
Here is how Tuscarawas Country teams shake out in The Times-Reporter’s second power ranking:
10. Tuscarawas Central Catholic 3-15
The Saints have seen their losing streak reach 11 games, after going 0-3 last week. TCC scored a total of three runs while allowing 31. The Saints sit in last place in the Northern Division of the Inter Valley Conference with a record of 1-9.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 vs. Buckeye Trail; Tuesday, May 12 at Central Christian; Wednesday, May 13 at Buckeye Trail
9. Tuscarawas Valley 5-13
After seeing their losing streak reach six games, the Trojans saw it come to an end via a 6-6 tie against Fairless. Tuscarawas Valley has allowed 69 runs since their last win on May 21. The Trojans sit in last place in the Southern Division of the IVC with a record of 1-11.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 at Carrollton; Friday, May 15 vs. Strasburg
8. Claymont 7-11
The Mustangs snapped their five-game lossing streak after defeating Fairless 11-7 on May 9. Claymont holds a 3-7 record in the Southern Division in the IVC.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 vs. Ridgewood; Wednesday, May 13 at Ridgewood; Friday, May 15 at Tuslaw
7. Dover 11-9
The Tornadoes went winless last week, after suffering two losses to Wooster (5-1, 4-1) and a 7-3 defeat to Louisville. Dover’s 6-6 record in the Ohio Cardinal Conference is best for third place.

6. Newcomerstown 5-9
After two victories over Tuscarawas Central Catholic, outscoring them 24-1 the Trojans were outscored 20-8 against Buckeye Trail (13-4) and Philo Electrics (17-4). Newcomerstown holds a 6-6 record in the Northern Division of the IVC.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 18 vs. Crooksville
5. Garaway 7-8
The Pirates extended their winning streak to four games after defeating Claymont (6-2 and 4-3) and Strasburg (2-1); however, on May 9, Garaway recorded the second tie for Tuscarawas County teams against St. Clairsville (4-4). The Pirates have a 4-6 record on the Southern Division of the IVC.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 at Indian Valley; Wednesday, May 13 vs. Indian Valley; Saturday, May 16 vs. West Holmes
4. Sandy Valley 10-5
After seeing their six-game winning streak come to an end, May 4 against Indian Valley (8-0) the Cardinals outscored its final two opponents last week 17-1. Sandy Valley has a 6-4 record in the Southern Division of the IVC.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 at Hiland; Tuesday, May 12 vs. Minerva; Wednesday, May 13 vs Hiland; Friday, May 15 at Canton Central Catholic
3. Indian Valley 13-4
The Braves split their two games last week against Sandy Valley, losing 4-1 on May 4 and winning 8-0 on May 6. Indian Valley sits at 8-2 in the Southern Division of the IVC.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 vs Garaway; Tuesday, May 12 at Philo Electric; Wednesday, May 13 at Garaway; Thursday, May 14 at University School Varsity Preppers
2. Strasburg-Franklin 13-4
After scoring 16 runs in their first two games of the week, the Tigers saw four runners come across home plate in the final two games against Ridgewood and Garaway. Strasburg remains at the top of the Northern Division of the IVC with a 9-1 record.
Upcoming schedule: Monday, May 11 at Conotton Valley; Wednesday, May 13 vs. Conotton Valley; Friday, May 15 at Tuscarawas Valley; Saturday, May 16 vs. Hiland
1. New Philadelphia 14-2
The Quakers remain at the top of the power rankings after going 3-1 with victories over West Holmes (5-0 and 9-7) and Tri-Valley (13-1). New Philadelphia sits atop the OCC with a 12-0 record heading into the final regular season games.
Upcoming schedule: Tuesday, May 12 vs. Wooster; Wednesday, May 13 at Wooster; Friday, May 15 vs. Lousiville
