Taft football is officially under new leadership.
Taft announced the hiring of Rob Rachel as the football program’s next head coach, pending board approval. The announcement came in a Feb. 17 Instagram post.
Rachel led Gamble Montessori for eight seasons from 2016-2023, accruing a 32-40 overall record. His tenure saw the Gators make their first-ever playoff appearance in 2021, then return to the postseason the following year after winning the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Blue Division title.
The move marks a homecoming for Rachel, who is an alumnus of Taft High School.
Taft is coming off of an 11-1 season in 2025. Their previous head coach, Tyler Williams, departed for North College Hill at the conclusion of the season.
