The incident happened more than one year ago in the Montgomery Inn Boathouse parking lot.

Two people were indicted in connection to the altercation: Kyle Raleigh – Steve’s son – and Troy Morrow – the son of a Tri-State couple who was assaulted.

The first day of Morrow’s trial involved Steve taking the stand to share his side of the story.

It is worth noting that today’s trial is the prosecution’s chance to present their witnesses and their case to the jury. Morrow’s attorneys will have the opportunity later.

In June 2024, a fender bender led to a chaotic situation.

Carter Raleigh – another one of Steve’s sons – was behind the wheel of an SUV when the vehicle collided with another car, driven by Morrow’s father.

Steve, who witnessed the aftermath of the vehicle, came outside to sort things out.

“I just asked, I said, ‘Is everybody ok, is everybody ok,’ and I just said, ‘It’s a fender bender, let’s exchange papers and insurance will handle it…’ “Steve Raleigh said. He testified that’s when Morrow indicated he felt he had been treated badly the last time insurance was involved..

He says Morrow’s mother came out of the vehicle cussing at him, which prompted a confrontation with Morrow.

“I saw Troy Morrow pull off his shirt and then just run at me and it happened like that, but I could see that he was running at me and he wasn’t far away and he was up on me …” Raleigh continued. He said Morrow threatened him.

Carter Raleigh, who was a witness to the incident, testified as well.

“Ripping off his clothing, crazy look in his eyes like I’m going to get you for what you’re saying to my father or something like that. I was so confused of why he was so enraged and what would cause him to physically charge towards my dad …” he said.

Previously, Morrow told a different side of the story to FOX19 NOW crews.

“It was just kind of a jawing back and forth and seconds later I hear from a distance, ‘No one’s going to hit my dad.’ I look this way, someone coming from this way clocks me in the side of the head. I stagger back, he dives on me and he’s on my throat with both hands choking me,” Morrow explained.

Raleigh said he’s been quiet throughout this process because his attorneys advised him not to discuss it. His company said anything he said publicly would need to be run through them.

The case will resume on Thursday.
