Speed tables were set up on Monument Road to help enforce the 25 mph speed limit.
To avoid Monument Road and circumvent the speed tables, people now drive through Stadium Park via Stadium Park Road (which runs parallel to Monument Road) at speeds in excess of 35 to 45 mph. The posted speed limit for Stadium Park Road is 20 mph. I not only see people in passenger cars driving well over the posted limit, but also park maintenance trucks, Canton City school buses and Canton police vehicles.
When drivers exceed the 20 mph limit, it creates a hazard for parkgoers (and their accompanying children and dogs) crossing the road, as well as park wildlife.
I believe the purpose of Stadium Park Road is to provide access to the walking track, pickleball courts, and playgrounds and should not be used as a thoroughfare. Installing speed tables on this road would cut down on through traffic and help to enforce the speed limit.
