Landon Myers delivered an RBI double and Erik Marohl an RBI single, highlighting a three-run sixth inning May 24 as the Johnstown baseball team picked up a 7-4 victory at No. 8 River Valley in a Division IV tournament game.
Conner Sullivan retired six of the seven batters he faced in relief for the No. 6 Johnnies (11-14), who visit No. 4 Highland for a district semifinal at 5 p.m. May 27. Landon Larason recorded three hits and a run, and Marohl, Braeden Archibald, Sevi Chiddention and Jackson Ryan each added two hits and a run, combining for three RBIs.

Warrior Rugby reaches state final
Sam Crum reached the try line twice as Warrior Rugby picked up a hard-fought 20-5 victory against Medina in the Single School state semifinals at Fortress Obetz.
Jake Lash and Cody West added a try apiece for Warrior Rugby, which advanced to play for a state title against top-seeded Westshore at time and date to be determined.
It will be the sixth consecutive appearance in the final for Warrior Rugby, which will be attempting to win its fourth championship.

Warrior Rugby girls drop semifinal
The Warrior Rugby girls team dropped its state semifinal to top-seeded Medina Highland 46-5 at Fortress Obetz on May 23.
Kaylann Legg reached the try line for Warrior Rugby.

Smith reaches milestone
Graham Smith recently became Watkins Memorial’s all time leader in wins before wrapping up his standout career.
Smith won his 102nd match during the Division I sectional tournament. He and freshman partner Matthew Reid qualified to the district tournament.
Smith and Reid rallied to beat Olentangy Orange’s Aiden Tang and Parth Khanvilkar 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 to open district play. The duo then dropped its quarterfinal match, 6-3, 6-2, to Upper Arlington’s W.K. Abouhassan and Charlie Freiburger.
