Alara, a high-end restaurant located in Madison Square, a mixed-use development on the Medpace medical campus, announced its sudden closure.
While no official statement had been released, customers trying to make reservations on Alara’s website June 9 were met with the following message:
“Dear Guest, We regret to inform you that Alara Restaurant has closed effective immediately. This was a difficult decision, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.”
Customers were then given the option to have their reservations switched to Zingaro, an Italian restaurant also located in Medpace Center.
“We would be pleased to accommodate your reservation at Madison Square’s Zingaro Italian Restaurant & Bar, located right next to Alara, at your original reservation time,” the message read. “If you would like to keep your reservation, please contact us at (513) 837-2916 or simply arrive at your scheduled time.”
Opened in 2024, Alara was owned by Looking Glass Hospitality, which also owns several area restaurants, including S.W. Clyborne Co. Provisions & Spirits, Tahona Kitchen + Bar, Fretboard Brewing and Toast & Berry.
The menu walked the line between high-end formality and button-down whimsy. The former included opulent seafood towers and dry-aged steaks, while the latter was illustrated by Korean corn dogs, barbecue pork buns and sliders.
The Enquirer has reached out to both Medpace and Looking Glass Hospitality but did not hear back before publication.
