Rakeem Ramere Ginyard, 28, will not have the possibility of parole for at least 60 years, according to a news release from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ginyard was convicted April 30 by a Marion County Common Pleas jury of six counts of first-degree felony rape for a series of rapes committed from late 2021 to 2022 at a house in Marion, according to the release.

Prosecutor Ray Grogan said evidence showed Ginyard exploited his familial connection to the victim and frequently stayed at her home in Marion while splitting his time between Columbus and Philadelphia. During that time he committed the assaults over multiple weekends.

According to the release, the victim’s mother read a letter from the child during the sentencing hearing in Judge Matthew Frericks courtroom that addressed the child’s progress in counseling and her family’s hope for a promising future.

“This sentence locks away a serial predator, guaranteeing he can never harm again,” Grogan said. “The child’s letter, read by the victim’s mother to the judge, was a testament to her resilience and fueled our resolve to secure this outcome.”

If Ginyard was released from prison in the year 2082, he would be required to register as a Tier 3 sex offender, according to the release.

“All of us are called to protect children and today the criminal justice system did just that,” Grogan said in the release. “This brave survivor’s voice, amplified by today’s ruling, warns every predator: we will pursue you relentlessly, and justice will prevail.”
