Pike County man dies in fatal Ohio 32 crash; investigation underway

PIKE COUNTY— A Pike County man has died after a fatal car crash on Ohio 32, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

On Feb. 18 at 7:48 a.m., the Portsmouth Dispatch Center of OSHP received a call about a crash on Ohio 32 at Route 23 in Pike County.

According to the release, a 2007 Altima, driven by Terry L. McBee, 74, of Beaver, was headed westbound on Ohio 32 and traveled off the right side of the roadway. There, it struck a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by Wesley L. Gaines, 41, of Rarden, that was stopped at a stop sign on the southbound ramp from Route 23.

McBee died from injuries sustained during the crash and Gaines had no apparent injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Waverly Fire Department, Piketon Fire Department, Pee Pee Township Fire Department, Pike ton Police Department, Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Elm Grove Fire Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Portsmouth Ambulance.
