DQ the kitten is as sweet as her name.
The News Journal Pet of the Week was found as an orphaned stray near the Dairy Queen on Glessner Avenue.
“She was fostered overnight by one of our staff members,” said Kinzi Ramirez, operations manager at the Humane Society of Richland County. “She then went to a long-term foster. They kept her in a safe environment until she was old enough to come back to us.”
DQ is a 3-month-old tabby cat. She has been back at the humane society for a little over a week and is displayed in one of the cages in the front lobby.
She explored the “catio” at the humane society during her profile for a story.
DQ is already up-to-date on her vaccines and has been spayed, de-wormed and flea-treated.
“She’s very playful, very sweet,” Ramirez said.
The operations manager said DQ should do well with kids and other animals. She is one of many cats taken in by the humane society this spring during kitten season.
“She’s young and adjustable, and really loves people,” Ramirez said.
DQ’s fee is $90.
The humane society is located at 3025 Park Avenue West in Ontario. Hours are 12-4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and 12-3 p.m. on Saturday. The shelter is closed Sunday and Tuesday.People also can visit adoptourstrays.com or call 419-774-4795.
