Ottawa County communities announce Fourth of July plans

Several Ottawa County communities are planning music, parades and fireworks for the Fourth of July and America 250.

Port Clinton to host Red, White and Vroom

In Port Clinton, the city is hosting its annual Red, White and Vroom Fourth of July Celebration. The morning begins with the Star-Spangled Squirt Gun Run/Walk 5K at 9 a.m. in the 100 block of Adams Street. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with awards at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registration is due before June 28.

The Firecracker Cutie Contest will be at 12 p.m. July 4 at Trinity United Methodist Church at Second and Adams streets. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Applications are available at OurGuest Inn and Suites and on the PC Area 4th of July Celebration Facebook page.

The pageant is open to all ages for females and ages 0 months to six years for males, all genders, all cities-states. All contestants are to wear their best red, white and blue outfits. Contestants ages 6 and over will be answering one on-stage question about themselves.

From 12-4 p.m., food trucks will also be at the church parking lot.

The Classic Car, Truck and Cycle Show will be 12-4 p.m. in the 100 and 200 blocks of Adams Street. Registration is $10 per vehicle.

The Voices of Fremont Community Choir Concert is 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church.

The Family Dance party hosted by PortClintonRadio.com will be 8-10 p.m. in Waterworks Park.

Fireworks are set for 10 p.m. at Waterworks Park and the City Beach.

Put-in-Bay hosts Boom at the Bay

The Fourth of July at Put-in-Bay will celebrate with Boom at the Bay, featuring fireworks over Lake Erie at 10 p.m. Fireworks will be visible from downtown or near Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial.

Marblehead, Lakeside and Danbury Township plan parade

Marblehead-Lakeside and Danbury Township are planning a 9:30 a.m. July 4 Float Parade starting at James Park in Marblehead and ending at the west side of Lakeside at the Second Street Gate, according to the township’s website. Parade entries must be registered. Email the parade coordinator at kiersten.richards@lakesideohio.com.

The parade will be followed by a 10 a.m. bike parade on Second Street in Lakeside.

The Independence Day celebrations will continue with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra Concert at 6 p.m. at the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.

Oak Harbor to host traditional celebration

The Oak Harbor Independence Day Celebration will be July 3. The big events include fireworks over the Portage River at dusk, according to the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Earlier in the day, there will be a car show at the police department on Church Street from 4-7:30 p.m.

Class A Performing Arts and Tumbling will have a show at 5 p.m. That is also the time activities kick off downtown with DJ Entertainment, food trucks, face painting, youth activities and raffle baskets.

Harbor Lites Baton will perform at 6 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. Oak Harbor VFW presentation.

Then the Royal Duck Race down the Portage River will be held at 7:30 p.m.
