American Cruise Lines making first stop in Sheboygan on June 25

SHEBOYGAN – A cruise ship traveling around Lake Michigan is docking in Sheboygan for the first time in recent history.

American Cruise Lines’ American Patriot will dock along South Pier in the evening on June 25, as part of the nine-day, eight-night Lake Michigan & Upper Peninsula cruise. As many as 130 guests could disembark to explore the city the following day.

Guests have curated excursion opportunities, including a cooking class at Nourish Farms and beer tasting and production facility tour at 3 Sheeps Brewing.

Sheboyganites may also see some more traffic in downtown and along the riverfront, including at the Sheboygan Visual Artists gallery, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Christopher Farm & Gardens, and Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin in Sheboygan Falls.

The cruise line also recommends guests check out a Segway the Lake Adventure tour and the Sheboygan Trolley, with stops including Bookworm Gardens, Harbor Point Mini Golf and the Acuity flagpole.

The stop in Sheboygan will be the cruise’s first stop after leaving Milwaukee. After visiting Sheboygan, the cruise will stop in Escanaba, Michigan, on day five; Green Bay on day six; and then Muskegon, Michigan, on day seven. The American Patriot will end its trip in Milwaukee on the last two days.

The cruise fits into the city’s plan to make the lakeshore a cultural and tourism destination, with hopes to secure ownership of the Breakwater Lighthouse, returning powerboat races, marina redevelopment and marketing as the “Malibu of the Midwest.”

American Cruise Lines will stop in Sheboygan again in July and August

The cruise will also be docking in Sheboygan this summer on July 2, Aug. 2 and Aug. 9.
