ASHLAND – The Coburn Art Gallery at Ashland University is hosting a regional exhibition that will feature 70 works by members of the Ohio Collage Society from May 29-July 24.
The free opening reception will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 29.
The exhibition highlights a wide variety of collage techniques, including both two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms that explore diverse materials and creative approaches. Collage, the art of assembling disparate materials to create a new whole, can be traced back to 200 B.C., according to the community announcement.
Featured artists in the exhibition include Anita Burgess, Nancy S. Sotka, Mary Ann Sedivy, Cynthia Petry, Gwen Waight, Brenda Schneider, Helen Wilson, Karen Koch, Shirley Ende-Saxe, Care Hanson, Patricia Schroeder, JoAnn Giordano, Gail Taber, Clare Murray Adams and Alexander Aitken.
The Ohio Collage Society, established in 2007, was founded by Gretchen Bierbaum, who is also the founder of the National Collage Society.
The Coburn Gallery’s summer hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., as well as Saturday noon-4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
