How to see your Ohio ballot before Election Day

Tomorrow is Election Day. If you didn’t already vote the early voting period, you may not know what you’ll see on the ballot.

Ohio ballots vary in every county. Stark County looks different from Summit, Franklin looks different from Fairfield, and Hamilton County’s isn’t the same as Butler’s. It’s important to know what will be on your ballot, and it’s pretty easy to find out.

Every Ohio county will be voting on the same races, such as governor and U.S. senator, but the the ballots on Election Day may vary depending on where you live. It’s important to note them before heading to your polling place.

Finding your sample ballot in Ohio is fairly simple. On the Secretary of State website, you can find your sample ballot by following these simple steps:

What are Election Day voting hours in Ohio? 

On Election Day, May 5, polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., according to this year’s voting schedule.

Absentee ballots must be received by your local board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, per the voting schedule.

When is the 2026 general election in Ohio?

Ohio’s general election will be on Tuesday, November 3.

Ohio voter registration deadlines for 2026 elections

In order to vote, Ohioans must register or update their voter registration no later than 30 days before an election. The registration deadline for the May 5 primary was April 6, 2026. If you register or update your information after the deadline, the changes will apply for the next election.

Ohioans planning to vote on Election Day in November 2026 have until Oct. 5, 2026, to register.

New voter ID laws in Ohio and other states

Enacted in 2023 after Republicans pushed for voting restrictions in 2020, the Buckeye State has implemented stricter voter ID laws, according to USA TODAY. During the primary elections last year, more than 8,000 voters did not have their votes counted because their ID was not accepted, USA TODAY reports. Up to 350,000 voters could end up being purged as Ohio examines its voter rolls.

Before you arrive at your polling place, keep in mind that your ID must be an unexpired government-issued photo ID.
