The May flowers may have arrived, but the April showers are sticking around.
The National Weather Service says another soggy week is in store for Greater Akron.
And by the time the weekend rolls around, several inches of rain could fall in parts of Northeast Ohio.
Warmer temperatures, along with showers and some thunderstorms, are possible Monday night into Tuesday.
Some storms could bring gusty winds and small hail.
There are chances of rain showers in the forecast every day through Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 10.
Another round of unseasonably cold weather is expected by Wednesday, with daily highs in the 50s expected through Friday.
Overnight lows in the 40s are expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
April was one for the record books
It may not have seemed like it at times, but April was unseasonably warm.
The National Weather Service says it tied as the second warmest on record in Greater Akron.
The average high temperature was 66.5 degrees − 4.7 degrees above normal.
The warmest day was April 15, when it hit 80 degrees.
The average low temperature was 44.4 degrees − 4.6 degrees above normal.
The coldest day was April 8, when the temperature fell to 23 degrees.
It was wetter than normal, with 6.05 inches of precipitation − 2.19 inches above the norm.
Greater Akron missed the mark in snowfall with just 0.4 inches recorded − 1.3 inches below normal.
What’s the weather outlook for May in Greater Akron?
The unseasonably warm temperatures in April have not continued into May.
The chilly temperatures to start May in Greater Akron led to some patches of frost and even snowflakes over the weekend.
And the chilly temperatures are expected to stick around for a bit.
The National Climate Prediction Center says the outlook for Northeast Ohio this month does not look good.
The center says Greater Akron has a 40% to 50% chance of experiencing below-normal temperatures in May.
The typical high for early May in Greater Akron is 68 degrees.
The overnight low is typically 48 degrees.
