Health Department food pantry setting up Tuesday, June 10, in Wooster – details here

The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop up food pantry 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in the parking lot at 244 W. South St., Wooster.

Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level ($30,120 a year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member). For example, a family of fourwhose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.

The pantry will be market-style. Assistance will be available for those with mobility issues.

“We served over 90 families in May. We are very excited to continue the market style pantry. Many who came last month really liked it,” according to Dr. Nicholas Cascarelli Wayne County health commissioner.

The Health Department asks for those who will be coming to the food pantry to not park in the United Way or the Wayne Center for the Arts parking lots. They need those parking spots for their clients, employees and visitors. Park in the lot in between the Health Department and the United Way.

The Health Department also is looking for volunteers to help with the pantries. They would need to be able to be there an hour before and a half hour after the food pantry in addition to the pantry itself. For more information or to volunteer, visit wayne-health.org or call at 330-264-9590, Ext. 207.
