Xavier University men’s basketball head coach Richard Pitino hired Greg Youncofski, who once served on Mick Cronin’s University of Cincinnati Bearcats staff, as an assistant coach, per an announcement April 17.
Youncofski, who completed his second season on Rick Pitino’s St. John’s Red Storm coaching staff during the 2025-26 season, replaced Dante Jackson on Richard Pitino’s XU staff.

Jackson left to join former Musketeers head coach Chris Mack’s staff at South Florida. Former Muskies guard Tu Holloway reportedly is joining Mack and Jackson at USF.
Youncofski was elevated to the position of assistant coach during the 2025-26 season. He became the program’s director of operations in June 2024.
In May 2019, Youncofski joined Cronin’s UCLA Bruins coaching staff. Youncofski previously was an assistant coach under Cronin at UC.
Youncofski was a program assistant for three years and a video coordinator for two before he was promoted and spent a total of six seasons at UC.
