Family helps Sebring woman mark her 109th birthday

When Virginia Althouse celebrated her 109th birthday with a party June 14 at Copeland Oaks in Sebring, 40 family members joined in on the fun. Althouse was born June 12, 1916, and grew up in the Salem area. She and her husband, Donald, were married 66 years before his death in 1998. The couple, who owned a farm in Salem, were married in 1932. Aunt Ginny, as her family refers to her, is Copeland Oaks/Crandall Medical Center’s oldest resident. Her great niece Sherry Deckerd said Virginia Althouse “is a strong woman of faith who continues to read her Bible each and every day.”
