Delaware County head-on crash kills two, seriously injures three

A crash in Delaware County killed two people and seriously injured three more, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at 8:32 p.m. Aug. 13 on U.S. Route 23 just north of State Route 750 in Orange Township, the highway patrol said in a news release.

A Dodge Ram traveling southbound on U.S. 23 crossed the center line into the northbound lanes and struck a Toyota Venza SUV head on, according to the news release. The pickup truck then struck a northbound Honda Accord head on.

The Honda and the Dodge caught fire after the impact, the highway patrol said.

Two passengers in the Toyota, Carol Waldman, 64, of Mount Cory and Amanda Reidling, 54, of Arcadia, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota’s driver and another passenger were transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries, the highway patrol said.

The driver of the Dodge was also transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Honda and its passenger suffered minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital, the highway patrol said.

The crash is under investigation, and highway patrol said it’s not clear whether any of the drivers were impaired or distracted.
