A Michigan State football coach is considered one of the best in his field, according to an analytics matrix.
Matrix Analytical has ranked the top five special teams coaches in the Big Ten, and the Spartans’ LeVar Woods was right at the top of the list. He came in as the top special teams coach in the Big Ten, with a rating of 85.22. The next best special teams coach in the Big Ten was Purdue’s James Shibest with a rating of 79.08.
Woods being listed as a top tier special teams coach in the Big Ten comes as no surprise. He was considered a monster hire for the Spartans when they stole him away from Iowa this offseason and is mentioned as one of the best in his field in not only the Big Ten but the entire country.
