OTTAWA COUNTY – The county commissioners announced June 17 that Plasterbed Road will remain closed to all traffic beyond the marked “Road Closed” signs, which are now in place.
Efforts have been taken to repair portions of the road, but the efforts have not been successful in fixing all areas of concern. New issues also have been discovered.
Ottawa County is working with state and local agencies to plot a course forward to reopen Plasterbed Road as soon as it is safe and practical to do so, the commissioners noted in a press release.
Certain portions of Plasterbed Road have experienced problems likely caused by underground mine subsidence, which has resulted in unsafe road conditions.
The commissioners and state and local partners are exploring all available options, including the feasibility of relocating portions of the roadway.
The commissioners reported the road is a priority and they are diligently working toward a more permanent resolution of the matter.
