Coroner IDs Ohio River kayaker as 28-year-old man from Erlanger

Authorities have identified the kayaker found in the Ohio River after he was missing for about three days.

The man recovered from the Ohio River June 7 is 28-year-old Erlanger resident Zeidana Malek, according to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 4, three kayaks capsized near New Richmond around 4 p.m. Two people were accounted for, but Malek was missing.

Crews spent the weekend using sonar and other technologies to find Malek.

Over six local agencies, led by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, were involved in the search, officials said.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
