The biggest fireworks show in Cincinnati will be bigger, brighter and is set to feature even more music this year.
Ahead of the annual Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks show during Labor Day weekend Sept. 6, rock group Third Eye Blind will “ignite the biggest blast in America” with a performance at MegaCorp Pavilion on Sept. 3.
Tickets for Third Eye Blind’s Memorial Day weekend show in Newport go on sale June 12 at 10 a.m. Fans can shop for tickets at www.axs.com/events.
Organizers of the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks show announced last month that the city’s annual display will be some of the “biggest fireworks in America.”
To celebrate the event’s 50th anniversary and the United States’ 250th, this year’s show will be more immersive, with organizers stating spectators will be “inside of the fireworks.”
Joseph Rozzi, vice president of sales and pyro designer for Rozzi’s Fireworks, said there will be a second set of barges located further downriver to create more viewing space. Fireworks will also be set off from rooftops, he added, and the company will bring in products from Japan to enhance the show.
Event organizers added that there will be a second fleet of drones that will create “stunning visuals” visible from both Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Along with the fireworks show, Riverfest will return to Sawyer Point Park and Yeatman’s Cove on Sept. 6. The festival will begin at 12 p.m., and the fireworks will start at 9 p.m.
