According to a team source, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. had a procedure on his left foot following an injury earlier in the offseason program, but is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July.
Rodriguez, who was signed to a two-year contract on March 11, has not participated in any of the organized offseason activities and will miss mandatory minicamp, which runs this week (June 9-11).
Rodriguez has rehabilitated the injury at the Jaguars’ facility and is expected to have no restrictions at the start of training camp.
Rodriguez, who played one season at Kentucky when Jaguars coach Liam Coen was the Wildcats’ offensive coordinator, will compete with Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen, Jr., on the Jaguars’ depth chart following the departure of Travis Etienne to the New Orleans Saints.
In three pro seasons (all with Washington, Rodriguez rushed 198 times for 920 yards and 10 touchdowns.
