Cincinnati to get break from rain Memorial Day, storms possible midweek

Greater Cincinnati will get a break from the rainy weather on Memorial Day before storms and showers return midweek.

After a weekend of steady rainfall altered Taste of Cincinnati’s hours and postponed two Reds games, the National Weather Service in Wilmington’s forecast for Monday, May 25, says drier conditions are coming to the rescue.

The morning will be foggy before 9 a.m. and the rest of the day will be mostly cloudy, but no rain is expected. Temperature highs will creep back up into the high 70s and low 80s and will largely hover in that range for the rest of the week, the weather service says.

Starting Tuesday, May 26, there will be a chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, as well as in the evening. The weather service’s forecast says the showers and thunderstorms will linger into Wednesday night, May 27, before the rainy weather clears up entirely by the beginning of the weekend.

Taste of Cincinnati was dampened by the rain over the weekend, the dry conditions on Memorial Day should allow for a more favorable experience. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Cincinnati weather detailed forecast

Monday (Memorial Day): Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Calm wind.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a 10th of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. High near 82. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Wednesday night: Showers likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 75.

Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.
