Port Huron, MI – During a special celebration recognizing nursing excellence, Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) proudly announced Carol Sexton, RN, of the Definitive Observation Unit (DOU), as the recipient of its inaugural DAISY Award. The event brought together colleagues and leadership to honor Carol and recognize the outstanding nominees whose compassion and dedication exemplify the very best in patient-centered care.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors nurses who consistently demonstrate exceptional clinical skills and compassionate care. Lake Huron Medical Center will present two DAISY Awards each year to celebrate nurses who make a profound impact on the lives of patients, families, and colleagues.
Carol was selected for embodying the very qualities the DAISY Award was created to recognize. Her nomination described her as “an exceptional nurse whose years of experience truly shine through in the care she provides every day.” She is known for treating every patient with genuine compassion and respect, ensuring they feel heard, safe and cared for.
Beyond the bedside, Carol serves as a trusted mentor and invaluable resource for her team. Her willingness to answer questions, offer guidance, and support her colleagues has made her an integral part of the nursing staff and a role model for others.
“Carol’s depth of knowledge, kindness, and commitment to excellence make her an outstanding choice as our inaugural DAISY Award recipient,” said Anisha Sheth, Chief Nursing Officer at Lake Huron Medical Center. “She exemplifies the compassionate, patient-centered care that defines Lake Huron Medical Center.”
In addition to honoring Carol Sexton, LHMC recognized the outstanding finalists for this award cycle:
· Doug Lockard, RN
· Cheryl Toles, RN
· Bridget Westrick, RN
· Nicholle Watson, RN
Each nominee was celebrated for their exceptional dedication to patients and their commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
Lake Huron Medical Center congratulates Carol Sexton on this well-deserved honor and thanks all this year’s nominees for the difference they make every day in the lives of patients and the community they serve.
