As civic-minded residents of St. Clair volunteered to stage the 32nd annual St. Clair River Classic, four-day event that features offshore racing in the St. Clair River, and as the members of the St. Clair City Council prepared for their last regular meeting of July, a resident with a darker agenda was apprehended by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.
“The St. Clair County Drug Task Force for executed a search warrant on the 1300 block of Cedar St. on (Monday) July 20, 2026, as a result of an ongoing investigation,” announced the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department on Facebook. “The Drug Task Force was accompanied by the Special Response Team. They located over 60 grams” – 2.12 ounces – “of crystal methamphetamine, scales, and sales materials.”
The Special Response Team is deployed during high-risk incidents, including “executing narcotics warrants or working through a dangerous hostage situation,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The deputies arrested Gregg Osebold, 41.
“On July 23, 2026, Osebold was arraigned in 72nd District Court on the following charges,” said the release.
Osebold was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, a fine up to $25,000, or both, according to Michigan Public Health Code, Section 7410. If convicted, Osebold will lose his driver’s license for six months – and one year if he has a controlled substance conviction within the last seven years.
Osebold was also charged with maintaining a drug house, a felony punishable by up to two years incarceration, a criminal fine up to $25,000, and a six-month suspension of his driver’s license.
“Bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety/10%,” according to the sheriff’s office.
