Athletes from Tallmadge and Archbishop Hoban high schools won the voting for the Akron-Area High School Athlete of the Week for May 18-24.
Caitlyn Eland is the girls winner and Zachary Karhoff wins for the boys. Eland, who plays softball for Tallmadge, received 60.77% of the votes cast. Karhoff, who plays baseball for Hoban, received 49.26% of the votes cast.
A total 17,510 votes were cast overall. Look for more on each athlete below.

Caitlyn Eland, Tallmadge softball
Had a single, home run and three RBIs in a 7-4 win over Rocky River.
Zachary Karhoff, Archbishop Hoban baseball
Went 3-for-3 with two runs in a 5-4 win over Walsh Jesuit, hit a two-run home run in a 14-2 victory over Chagrin Falls, went 4-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs in an 8-0 win over Massillon and went 2-for-3 in an 11-1 victory over Olmsted Falls.
