Memorial Day will be celebrated May 25 with several services in the City of Alliance.
A breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Alliance’s Charles C. Weybrecht American Legion Post 166, 141 W. Main St. The event is donations only, with funds raised going to the post’s Ladies Auxiliary to support veterans and their families.
The American Legion Honor Guard and area veterans will place a wreath at 9:30 a.m. Freedom Square on East Main Street in Alliance.
A Memorial Day parade will step off at 10 a.m. from South Linden Avenue and East Main Street. The parade proceeds from East Main to North Union Avenue to West Vine Street and ending at Alliance City Cemetery. Honorary parade marshal is David Leasure, a retired veteran of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and Ohio Army National Guard.
A service will begin once the parade arrives at the cemetery. Commander Ted Pase of Charles C. Weybrecht American Legion Post 166 will deliver the main address, called “Friends Remembered: I Still Miss Them Today.”
The post will be open until 6 p.m. to all veterans on Memorial Day.

BELOIT: George D. Worth American Legion Post 574 plans a Memorial Day program at 10 a.m. May 25 at Highland Memorial Park. Post 574 Color Guard will carry the flags to the memorial area at 9:45 a.m. The program will include the West Branch High School Marching Band, bagpipe performance, laying of the wreath by Post 574 and placing of flags by scouts. Guest military speaker will be Robert Kincaid. Flags will be placed on veteran graves starting at 8 a.m. May 23. Volunteers are welcome. EAST CANTON: American Legion Lowell D. Oberly Post 667 plans its Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. May 25. Participants will line up at Foltz Stadium, at Browning and Center streets, by 9:30 a.m. The route will be west on Center Street, south on state Route 44, west on Noble Street, north on Werley Street, east on Orchard Street, south on state Route 44, and east on Third Street. Route will start and end in the same location, with a 1.9-mile loop of East Canton north of Nassau Street.
DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP: The parade will begin at 9 a.m. May 25, starting at the Deerfield Fire Department, 9482 U.S. Route 224, and move along Route 224. Lineup is at 8 a.m.
HARTVILLE – A procession to Memorial Park, 335 Park Lane Drive SW, will begin at 9:45 a.m. May 23 at Hartville Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the park.
LAKE TOWNSHIP: A Memorial Day service will be at 1 p.m. May 25 at the All Veterans Memorial in Uniontown Community Park, 3696 Apollo St NW. Light refreshments will be served following the program. In case of rain, the event will be held in the park building.
MARLBORO TOWNSHIP: The parade will begin at 1 p.m. May 25 at the Marlboro Township Historical Society, 12315 Marlboro Ave. NE, and conclude at Marlboro Cemetery. The Dr. Kersey G. Thomas Home & Office will be open for free tours. New Baltimore Ice Cream will provide free ice cream.
MINERVA: The memorial program at the Valley Street Cemetery will begin at 10 a.m. May 25. A brief ceremony will be held by VFW Post 4120 at the cemetery with the three-volley salute and taps. Services at East Lawn Cemetery on East Line Street will begin at 11 a.m. May 25. The program will include veteran Howard K. Marotto. A Minerva Middle School student will give the Gettysburg Address, and the Minerva Middle School Band will perform patriotic music. Chaplain Matthew Baxter will offer the invocation and benediction. VFW Post 4120 will provide the three-volley salute, taps, and the laying of the wreath.
PARIS TOWNSHIP: The memorial program at Liberty Cemetery on Blade Road will begin at 1:30 p.m. May 24. The program will include veteran William Logozzo. A Minerva Middle School student will give the Gettysburg Address, and the Minerva Middle School Band will perform patriotic music. The Rev. Dennis Coy will offer the invocation and benediction. VFW Post 4120 will provide the three-volley salute and taps. There is no parade this year.
WEST TOWNSHIP: West Township Memorial Association plans Memorial Day activities beginning at 2 p.m. May 25 at Moultrie Chapel, 23577 State Route 72. Vice President Jeff Haynam will welcome and lead the outdoor program, which will include VFW Post 4120 of Minerva salute; Katie Reusser playing taps; march throughout the cemetery to lay fresh flowers on veterans’ graves; Iva Lowmiller, Minerva Elementary School fifth-grader; will recite the Gettysburg Address. Patriotic music will be provided by the Minerva Community Band. After the ceremony, speaker Ken Bandy of Knox Township will speak on the topic of “The Story Beneath the Stone,” in Moultrie Chapel. Attending veterans will be recognized. Megan Lynn, a 2026 Minerva High graduate, will perform special music. Ice cream will be served after the indoor service.
