The Minnesota Vikings are taking another look at Los Angeles Rams assistant general manager John McKay for their general manager position.
According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the Vikings have requested a second interview with McKay, this one being an in-person meeting. McKay is one of five candidates to earn a second interview, so he’s squarely in the running for the job.
The Rams promoted McKay to assistant general manager in 2025 after he was the director of pro scouting for the previous four years. Having worked closely with Les Snead and his group, it’s not surprising that Minnesota is considering giving him a chance to be a general manager.
McKay has a connection to the Vikings in Kevin O’Connell, who was the Rams’ offensive coordinator from 2020-2021 under Sean McVay.
The Vikings have taken their time with their general manager search since firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in January. Rob Brzezinski has served as the interim GM and is among the five candidates who will have a second interview with the team for the permanent position.
