Akron Public Schools cancels summer programs due to network outage

All Akron Public Schools buildings will be closed on June 24 due to what the district is calling an “unanticipated network outage.”

The closure means that all summer schools and summer camps for elementary, middle and high schools, and all extended school year, secondary credit recovery and city programs held in a district school building have been canceled.

All athletic activities and events also are canceled.

A district spokeswoman didn’t immediately return a message seeking additional details.

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information is obtained.
