Cole Gaylord, 27, and Kyle Inferrara, 38, died inside their vehicles after the crash occurred a little after 6:15 a.m. on May 1 on state Route 350 at Sparta Pike in Sparta Township.

Gaylord was going west in a 2017 Hyundai Elantra when the sheriff said he went to pass an empty school bus in a no-passing zone.

After getting into the eastbound lane, Gaylord’s vehicle crashed head-on into Inferrara’s 2015 Chevy Trax, the sheriff said.
