Two longtime Columbus television personalities announced they are leaving WSYX/ABC 6, marking a shift for the station’s on-air lineup.

Veteran reporter and anchor Tom Bosco announced April 30 he will leave the station after nearly two decades to take a new role in New York.

Bosco, who has worked at WSYX for about 19 years, said in a Facebook post he accepted an anchor position at a CBS affiliate in Albany, New York where he will lead the 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

“It’s an opportunity I wasn’t looking for, but a situation that I cannot pass up,” Bosco wrote, adding the move brings him closer to family and marks a promotion within his company.

According to an article from Albany-based CBS6, Bosco will also serve as an investigative reporter, contributing to long-form and accountability journalism.

His last day on air in Columbus was not immediately clear, but he said he is expected to begin his new role June 1.

Bosco thanked colleagues and the Delaware community, where he has spent much of his career, calling it “a fantastic place to raise our daughter, make lifelong friends, and put down roots.”

Also announcing her departure April 30 was longtime anchor Terri Sullivan.

Sullivan, a four-time Emmy Award winner, has anchored ABC 6 News at Noon— known as the “Edgy Noon Show” — and reported in the afternoons.

In a social media post, Sullivan said she plans to retire after more than three decades in television, including 32 years at ABC 6.

“After 36 years on TV in Columbus, including 32 at ABC6, this is a moment I’ve been thinking about for a long time,” Sullivan wrote.

Sullivan said she will retire June 30 and plans to remain on air in the coming weeks.

She thanked viewers and colleagues, saying her career “has never just been a job” but “a huge part of my life.”

Both announcements come as Ohio’s local TV landscape continues to shift, including a recent Nexstar deal that state officials say is aimed at preserving local journalism at stations in Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo. WSYX was not part of that deal.
