A 15-month investigation into a suspected drug trafficking ring in Akron led to indictments of 17 people, the Akron Police Department announced July 17.
Detectives seized more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine, about 50 grams of fentanyl and two handguns. The drug trafficking pipeline operated between Akron and Pennsylvania.
Akron police detectives worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The investigation led to the federal indictment of 15 people, whose ages ranged from 27 to 62. They were indicted in the U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio on offenses including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Two additional people were indicted on state of Ohio narcotics charges.
