1 person, 2 dogs rescued from Goodyear Heights house fire Monday

The Akron Fire Department responded to a residential fire June 22 where one person was hospitalized in critical condition and two dogs were rescued.

Firefighters responded to a home in the 1200 block of Chippewa Avenue around 9:50 a.m. Monday where smoke was reported in the area. Initially, smoke showed from a single-story residential structure and the fire was extinguished, a release from the fire department said.

It was reported that the companies on the scene “checked for extension” to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.

The victim was taken to Summa Health Akron.

Multiple units from the Akron Fire Department responded to the blaze.

The fire investigation unit and the State Fire Marshall are investigating the incident.
