Who should be Faber Builders Boys Athlete of the Spring

With the season now over, it’s time to figure out who should be the Boys Athlete of the Spring presented by Faber Builders Inc.

These were the trends this spring:

The poll is now open to decide who will be the Faber Builders Boys Athlete of the Spring. Check out each player’s credentials above the poll, which runs until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 28. The winner will be announced Tuesday, June 30, on the DandCSports Instagram page.

Here’s another look at the winners.

Brayden Arber

The Bloomfield-Honeoye boys lacrosse player won Athlete of the Week after the sophomore set a score record for goals with 11 in a May match.

Landon Bordwell

The Penfield golfer won Athlete of the Week back in April after the senior shot an even par score of 36 at Midvale Country Club during a nine-hole golf match won by a point by the Patriots.

Tyler Burchett

The Fairport senior won the final Athlete of the Week this spring after he was the highest finisher from Section V at the boys golf state championships at Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville. Burchett tied for seventh place after he shot a two-round score of 145, including a 70 on day one.

Ryland Dunham

The Geneva lacrosse player won Athlete of the Week after he picked up nine goals and one assist in the Panthers’ section quarterfinal victory over Batavia-Notre Dame.

Braden Fingar

The Penn Yan player won Athlete of the Week after the lacrosse senior recorded 12 points, including seven goals, across two games in May.

Brodie Joyce

Readers selected the Penfield lacrosse star as Athlete of the Week after the senior paced his team with five goals, as the Patriots defeated McQuaid in the Class A final. Joyce, the program’s all-time leading scorer, was named MVP.

Owen Kearney

The Honeoye Falls-Lima pitcher won Athlete of the Week in late April after the senior threw a complete game (seven innings), a shutout with 12 strikeouts and two hits and had six hits in nine at-bats during the week.

Paxton Landon

The Wayne lacrosse player won Athlete of the Week in May after the junior scored the game-winner in overtime to cap a four-goal, three-assist game. Landon also had five goals in an earlier win that week.

Jackson Mead

The Victor lacrosse star seized Athlete of the Week honors after he scored six goals and had an assist in the Blue Devils’ state quarterfinal win over Section IV’s Horseheads.

Eli Ricci

The Victor lacrosse player was voted Athlete of the Week after the sophomore scored five goals, went 16-for-22 on faceoffs, and picked up 13 ground balls in an early-season win against Penfield. Ricci added three goals in a win against West Genny. 

Joshua Yakowitz

The Gates Chili lacrosse player was voted Athlete of the Week after the junior scored six goals to help the Spartans get their first win of the season.
