We start each week of the season with a quick look back to spotlight the standout performances of the previous week. The process begins with coaches sending in nominations for the lohud Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week. I’ll narrow the field each Monday and list the finalists. You’ll vote and vote and vote and the winner gets five minutes of fame on our social media accounts.

Phelan Bennett, Tappan Zee
The senior faceoff specialist went 12 for 20 on draws and forced a pair of turnovers in a 17-2 loss to Bronxville, went 12 for 19 with one assist in a 14-3 win over Suffern and went 13 for 18 in a 9-6 win over Clarkstown South.
Tyler Caricati, Yorktown
The junior midfielder and FOGO went 12 for 17 on faceoffs, sparking a 9-6 win over Darien, Connecticut, which came in ranked 21st in the USA Lacrosse Magazine High School Boys’ National Top 25. It was the Huskers’ first win in the series since 2013.
Logan Idi, Ossining
The senior midfielder and FOGO netted six goals and went 25 for 26 on draws in a 14-8 win over Edgemont, then scored twice and went 16 for 16 in a 10-4 loss to Irvington.
Bret Kennedy, Somers
The senior defender had one goal and one assists while causing five turnovers and picking up five ground balls in a win over Mahopac. He added one goal, three caused turnovers and four ground balls in a loss to Shawnee, New Jersey and one goal, four caused turnovers and four groundballs in a win over Lakeland/Panas. Kennedy now has more than 100 caused turnovers for his career.
Jack Martz, Rye Neck
The junior attackman had two goals and one assist in an 8-7 loss to Briarcliff/Croton and six goals and one assist in a 10-6 win over Haldane.
Robbie Miele, Ardsley
The junior midfielder/FOGO contributed three goals and two assists while going 14 for 23 on faceoffs in a 10-9 loss to North Salem and two goals and one assist while going 22 for 29 at the X in a 15-10 win over Albertus Magnus.
Tim Plunkett, Iona Prep
The senior attackman delivered five goals and one assist in a 10-4 win over nationally-ranked Don Bosco, New Jersey. He also had a pair of goals in a 10-8 win over Wilton, Connecticut and three goals and one assist in an 18-4 win over St. Joseph’s, Connecticut.
Robbie Sgueglia, Suffern
The junior goalie had a .710 save percentage for the week, making 12 saves in a 7-4 win over Clarkstown North, 25 saves in a 14-3 loss to Tappan Zee and 20 saves in a 9-6 win over Nanuet.
Milin Torgalkar, Rye Country Day
The senior attackman delivered four goals and three assists in a win over Fieldston, five goals and two assists in a win over Harvey and five goals and three assists in a win over King.
Trevor Valente, Bronxville
The freshman attackman came up with five goals and one assist in a 17-2 win over Tappan Zee and four goals in a 9-6 win over Greeley.
