Attention overeager gardeners: Cover your plants.
The National Weather Service in White Lake has issued a frost warning for Sunday, April 19, and a hard freeze warning for Monday, April 20, across most of southeast Michigan. Temperatures across metro Detroit, which have been unseasonably warm all week, are expected to dip into the 20s and 30s this weekend, the agency said.

The counties affected are: Saginaw, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, St. Clair, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee and Monroe. It also includes the cities of Flint, Warren, Monroe, Detroit, Howell, Owosso, Saginaw, Port Huron, Adrian, Pontiac, Ann Arbor and Lapeer.
Gardeners should cover plants or bring them indoors or risk losing them. Homeowners should cover any exposed plumbing to keep pipes from freezing.
