A three-vehicle crash on Rochester’s Inner Loop early Friday left two people dead and shut down both directions of the highway, according to New York State Police.
The crash happened at about 1:50 a.m. on the eastbound Inner Loop near Joseph Avenue.
Two people killed in crash
State police said two people were killed in the collision. No additional information about the victims or the other vehicles involved was immediately released.
Troopers and members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene.
Investigation ongoing
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation.
As of Friday morning, both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Inner Loop remained closed while investigators processed the scene.
Motorists are urged to follow posted detours and seek alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
State police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
