The Buffalo Bills have opened Highmark Stadium ahead of the 2026 NFL season this week. There are plenty of events already in place.
So far, all of them involve football, from training camp to the regular season.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this week for Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, Bills COO Pete Guelli admitted efforts are already underway relating to at least one big occasion not involving football… hopefully in the near future.
The National Hockey League (NHL) hosts yearly outdoor games and Guelli said the Bills are already in talks with the NHL to host one at the new football complex in Orchard Park.
It sounds as if the talks are not far down the road, which makes sense with the stadium just being opened… but it’s something desired for the crosstown Sabres hockey team.
