Toddler found walking alone on NY road; woman charged

A Wayne County Sheriff’s Office investigation led to the arrest of a Town of Sodus woman after deputies said a 2-year-old child was found walking alone along a roadway.

Deputies said they responded to a 911 call about a toddler walking alone on Shaker Road in the Town of Sodus.

According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses reported seeing the child walking in the roadway while traffic was passing through the area.

Investigators allege the child left a residence in the Alton Mobile Home Park and made it out of the trailer park and onto the roadway without an adult accompanying them.

Woman charged

Deputies arrested Holly M. Craner, 25, of the Town of Sodus on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities said Craner was supervising the child at the time of the incident.

What happens next

Craner was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing before being taken to the Wayne County Jail to await CAP Court arraignment.
