Target is voluntarily recalling several varieties of Up & Up baby wipes after customer complaints and testing found potentially harmful bacteria in some products, according to the company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Why are the wipes being recalled?
The recall affects certain lots of Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes.
FDA testing identified the presence of Burkholderia cepacia complex and Burkholderia gladioli in product samples. These bacteria can cause serious or potentially life-threatening infections, particularly in newborns, infants, young children and people with weakened immune systems.
According to the recall notice, possible health risks include skin infections, bloodstream infections, sepsis and pneumonia.

The wipes were manufactured by a supplier and sold at Target stores nationwide and through Target.com.
Which baby wipes are included in the recall?
The recall includes the following products:
Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes
Affected products have manufacturing date codes ranging from Nov. 7, 2025, through May 5, 2026, and expiration dates between May 10, 2028, and Nov. 5, 2028.
Up & Up Fresh Cucumber Scented Baby Wipes
Affected products have manufacturing date codes of Dec. 29-30, 2025, and expiration dates of June 29-30, 2028.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should stop using the recalled wipes immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

Target said it is working with manufacturer Sapro Temizlik Urunleri and coordinating with the FDA as the investigation continues.
