Victims identified in fatal Rochester wrong-way crash on Inner Loop

Two Rochester men who were killed in a wrong-way crash on the Inner Loop early Friday have been identified by New York State Police.

The victims were identified as Charles Barnes, 21, of Rochester, who was driving a Ford Fusion, and Quincy Battle, 21, of Rochester, who was riding in the front passenger seat.

State police release details of crash

According to state police, the crash occurred at about 1:26 a.m. Friday on the Rochester Inner Loop.

Investigators said a 2024 Honda CR-V driven by Nayomi Flores, 39, of Rochester, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided head-on with the eastbound Ford Fusion driven by Barnes.

After the initial impact, the Ford Fusion was pushed into the path of a 2012 Jeep Liberty driven by Marvin T. Harmon, 29, of Rochester, resulting in a second collision.

Barnes and Battle were pronounced dead at the scene.

Driver remains in critical condition

State police said Flores became unresponsive at the scene and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Harmon was evaluated at the scene before being transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigation continues

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed and reconstructed the crash scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.
