SOUTH BRISTOL — South Bristol may be getting a new playground as soon as 2026.
The South Bristol Town Board unanimously approved the installation of a community playground at Town Hall, 6500 Gannett Hill Road.
The upgraded playground will replace aging equipment in place now and will serve a wider range of children, ages 2 to 12. Site preparation is already underway, with installation expected to begin in the spring.
Councilman Jim Strickland, who led the effort, emphasized the value of the project in a statement: “This playground will provide a safe, updated place for kids and families to enjoy for many years to come.”
Councilwoman Meg Fuller added in a statement that strong county sales tax numbers and careful budgeting led to the project’s approval because it won’t add a new burden burden on residents.
“That’s something I’m truly grateful for,” Fuller stated. “Investments like this help keep South Bristol the kind of place where families feel welcome, connected, and proud to call home. And as my daughter Maisie said, ‘Yes!’”
