People packed the Nyack High School cafeteria for the annual multicultural festival on March 5, 2026.
Students and community members set up tables with food, items and information from different cultures. Performances continued throughout the night with songs and dances from around the world.
“Here tonight, I am here to celebrate the diversity of this wonderful community, and I’m also here to sing a bit and represent some of my culture that I’m very proud of,” said Willvensky Coichy, a Nyack High School student. “I’m here to represent the Haitian culture.”
“Nyack is a very diverse town with a lot of different cultures, and this festival is a great way to kind of see all of them,” said high school student Ivy Brauncastrell. “It’s a great way for everyone to be able to express themselves and kind of just learn about other cultures, other than your own.”
A school year is 180 days, with no two days and no two schools exactly alike. The students differ, the teachers differ, school cultures differ. Here, our photographers find what makes our school days anything but ordinary, the people and programs and events that make a difference, school day in and school day out.
