See it: Giants' Jaxson Dart, Abdul Carter embrace after Trump drama

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart and edge rusher Abdul Carter shared a warm embrace Friday, signaling the end of a brief but public controversy that had seemingly disrupted team harmony.

The episode began on May 22 when Dart introduced President Donald Trump at a campaign rally for Rep. Mike Lawler in Suffern, New York. Dart greeted the crowd with “Big Blue Nation” references and presented Trump as the “45th and 47th President,” prompting Trump to call the young quarterback a future Hall of Famer.

Carter initially reacted with surprise on social media, posting, “Thought this [expletive] was AI. What we doing, man?” The comment fueled speculation about locker room divisions in the politically diverse Giants roster.

However, the teammates quickly addressed the matter privately. Carter later stated everything was “good” with Dart, emphasizing that disagreements do not undermine their relationship.

“Just because we have a disagreement about something doesn’t mean there’s something more than that,” Carter told reporters on Friday.

He added that the situation provided an opportunity for players to discuss views and strengthen bonds.

Jameis Winston praised the moment as an example of togetherness, noting Dart and Carter’s close bond, including sitting next to each other in meetings.

Offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor confirmed the locker room was “fine,” while head coach John Harbaugh expressed pride in how players handled the situation through open dialogue.

Dart addressed the team in a meeting, reinforcing the importance of keeping internal matters private. The organization reportedly viewed the appearance as a misstep due to the distraction, but respected Dart’s personal decision.

The public embrace underscores the Giants’ commitment to unity as they prepare for the upcoming season
