Pavement work planned on state Route 352 in East Corning. What to know

The state Department of Transportation is giving motorists in the Corning area a heads up about an upcoming road project that will have an impact on travel this summer.

State Route 352 in the hamlet of East Corning will be reduced to a single lane in both directions between the Gibson Bridge and Guthrie Corning Hospital, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, starting Wednesday, July 16, the Department of Transportation said.

The lane restriction will be put into place to accommodate a pavement project, and the work is anticipated to be completed by mid-August.

Motorists should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if possible, transportation officials said.

The Department of Transportation urges motorists to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, and convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.

For up-to-date travel information, motorists can call 511, go to 511NY.org or download the free 511NY mobile app.
